Option 2: Advertising Your Company’s Product/Service

You will run a search campaign on AdWords marketing your company’s product or service at your own cost
(Note: for this option, you are responsible for your own budget, meaning you will need to supply your own funds and enter billing information before running your campaign in AdWords)

To be eligible to do option two you will need the following:

  • Company’s website URL
  • AdWords Account (Need to create an AdWords account? Follow the directions below)
  • A lifetime budget between $50-$125 to spend on AdWords
  • A daily budget between $10-$25/day, depending on what you have chose as your lifetime budget

Creating your own AdWords Account

  1. You will need a Gmail to create an AdWords account. If you don’t already have one, you can make one here.
  2. Once you have your Gmail, you can now create your AdWords account here.

What you will do

You will create one AdWords search campaign that will run for 5 days. You will use a lifetime budget of $50 - $125 and a daily budget between $10-$25/day. Your target location is entirely up to you. We suggest targeting a country/state that you already market towards or an area that you are interested in taking new business. Remember, it is important to make sure you are abiding by the AdWords policies for your target location.

Your campaign should consist of two Ad Groups that could either target different stages in the customer journey (e.g., general interest in the product), different aspects of the product/service or different target audiences. In either case, you want to make sure that you set up a different list of keywords for each Ad Group. After setting up your two Ad Groups, you will create two ads per Ad Group. You will then schedule your campaign to run in one week, so your reviewer has time to approve your campaign setup.

Please note: If your company’s products/services are related to alcohol, adult content, gambling and games, healthcare and medicine, and political content take note of Google AdWord’s restrictions and policies in regards to running your campaigns on the platform. Some policies/restrictions vary by target location, so please be cognizant of those as well.
